I was born in 1941 in Caernarfon,North Wales, was educated in England from the age of thirteen, studied English literature at Oxford (New College) and since 1972 have lived in Amsterdam. I have been a university teacher of translation studies and English literature and have published a number of books, including three novels and a book for children. I have painted all my life, since 2002 intensively. I received my first drawing and painting lessons at school,and since then have followed various courses and classes. An important part of my artistic education has consisted in looking hard for many years at the world around me and at all kinds of art.
